The challenge. In 2023 Nagaland marked 60 years of statehood. The Nagaland Legislative Assembly wanted that history written down properly: how the state’s political journey unfolded, and who led it, from 1963 to the present. The book had to be accurate, easy to read and fit for an institution’s permanent record.
What we did. We treated the book as a research project first and a design project second.
- Gathered the material. We prepared questionnaires and carried out interviews, and compiled data on Nagaland’s public representatives across the decades.
- Built an editorial strategy. We organised the story around each Chief Minister, so that every leader’s contribution from 1963 to the present has its place in the book.
- Researched and edited. We checked and structured the information, then edited it into a clear, consistent narrative.
- Designed the book. We handled the book design, layout and production, so the content, design and printing came together as one publication.
The result. A landmark publication marking Nagaland’s 60th Statehood Anniversary, which records the state’s political journey and the contribution of each Chief Minister from 1963 to today.
Why it mattered. Government records are only useful if people can find and trust what is in them. Doing the research, writing and design under one roof meant the facts and the layout were planned together, from the first interview to the printed page.
