How to turn a college internship into a job in digital marketing
Tips & Turtorials
Internships at MMB have never been one-dimensional. Interns from colleges across Nagaland and beyond have joined us, including Sazolie College, Tetso College, Kohima College, Baptist College, Don Bosco College, Mount Carmel College (Bangalore), Amity University and Delhi University. Some have gone on to work with us. Here is what the journeys we have watched have in common.
- Treat the internship as a long interview. Be on time, finish what you start, and ask when you are stuck.
- Say yes to unfamiliar work. One of our interns began with a summer internship in 2024, took on events, graphic design and logistics, and by spring 2025 was leading a team of interns for a major event. Another wrote: “Yesterday, I was a student; today, I’m working with MMB, still learning and growing with the team.”
- Learn the core tools. Canva or a similar design tool, a scheduler, basic SEO, basic video editing and simple analytics cover most entry-level work.
- Build a portfolio from live work. Keep a record, with permission, of what you made, what the goal was and what happened.
- Take small responsibilities. Offer to lead one task from start to finish.
- Ask for feedback every week. It shortens your learning curve.
- Stay in touch. Offer to help on a project after the internship ends.
